PIGOT BREAKS TRACK RECORD AT INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY

October 18, 2012

Rising American driving talent Spencer Pigot got his first taste of a Star Mazda car at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway F1 track last week. During the two day "Chris Griffis Memorial Mazda Road To Indy Open Test" the Florida teenager topped the time sheets in all four on track sessions. On the second day of the test, driving the Team Pelfrey entry, he recorded a time of 1:24.859 beating the track record by almost 0.6 seconds.

"What a great learning experience, and to turn the quickest time with so much international talent at the test is a real confidence booster, since I hope to race in Star Mazda next season," said Pigot, who won a record eight USF2000 races during the 2012 season. "This is my first time in a Star Mazda car. It's obviously quite a bit quicker than my USF2000 car, with more aerodynamics, better brakes and a sequential shifter, so it took a bit of getting used to. Working with Geoff Fickling, my engineer Tim and all the Team Pelfrey crew was a real pleasure. All the guys there are very professional and talented. Hopefully Iíll be driving for the team in 2013." Spencer and his management team are currently working on funding for a full assault on the 2013 "Star Mazda Championship Presented By Goodyear" with Team Pelfrey.

Spencer is supported by Team Pelfrey, Doug Mockett & Company, E-merging Technologies Group, Parathyroid.com, California Scents and Silver Knight Racing.
