Juncos Racing took home their ninth podium finish of the 2015 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires season this past weekend at the Cooper Tires Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio. Rookie Spencer Pigot earned the third step of the podium of Round 14 on the 2.25 mile, 13-Turn road course at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Spencer Pigot (Orlando, Florida) driver of the #12 MAZDASPEED scholarship car, gained 12 points during Rounds 13 and 14 and now trails the championship leader by only six points. Pigot started the weekend off strong at Mid-Ohio leading the field during practice session one, and went on to qualify third for Round 13.

An incident during Round 13 on the first lap involving points leader Jack Harvey, brought Pigot into the pits to change a tire, finishing his day in eighth. The following day Pigot started Round 14 in seventh position. An intense race between multiple drivers, lead Pigot to the podium taking third for Round 14.

"Overall it was a really good weekend for us in the championship," said Pigot. "The results weren't really what we were hoping for, but in the end gaining points is what is really important. The team did an amazing job all weekend and now we head into Mazda Raceway with a real shot at winning it. I want to thank Juncos Racing, Mazda, Cooper Tire, Mockett, Rising Star Racing, The Stutz, MOBE and BAD for all of their support."

Teammate and fellow rookie Kyle Kaiser (Santa Clara, California), driver of the #18 InterVision/NetApp/JuniperNetworks car, kicked off the weekend at Mid-Ohio running third in the second practice session. Kaiser, who qualified eighth for Round 13, took home his sixth Top-5 finish of the season taking fourth. Round 14 did not fair as well for Kaiser who was involved in an incident early in the race with the #77 of Scott Anderson, ending his day in 11th.

"Rough ending to a weekend that had potential to be really great for the team," said Kaiser. "The first race went well and we got some valuable points and benefitted from some attrition up front. The second race didn't go as well because of an early incident, but the team gave me a great car and I know we had one of the fastest cars on track. I'm really looking forward to the finale at my home track, Mazda Raceway. I'll be training hard in the meantime in anticipation for the last two races!"

After picking up the points necessary to be in contention for their first Indy Lights title, Team Principle, Ricardo Juncos is confident the team will be ready to battle in the final round of the championship next month at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

"Spencer (Pigot) did exactly what he needed to do this weekend," said Juncos. "He finished in front of (Ed) Jones and (Jack) Harvey in both races. We have now managed to put ourselves within striking distance of Harvey with only one round remaining. Everyone within the Juncos organization is pushing as hard as we possibly can to capture our first Indy Lights title. Kyle (Kaiser) managed a very solid finish on Saturday, we feel Laguna being his home track should be his best shot at a victory this year."

The 2015 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires concludes next month with the season finale with Rounds 15 and 16 September 10-13th at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. For more information please visit juncosracing.com and indylights.com.

About Juncos Racing: Ricardo Juncos, a second generation driver, grew up with a deep passion for racing. Juncos made his first steps in the racing community driving karts throughout Argentina. After funding became difficult, Juncos worked for teams in order to support his own racing career. During this time Juncos took courses in mechanical and electrical engineering to fully understand racing on and off the track. Ricardo Juncos established Juncos Racing in 1997 as a formula team operating in Argentina. Six years later, Juncos Racing moved to Miami, Florida where they became a respected karting team recording multiple local, regional, and national titles. After a successful run in karts, Juncos Racing moved north to Indianapolis, Indiana the "racing capitol of the world," in 2008 to join INDYCAR's Mazda Road to Indy series. After only two years in the Star Mazda Championship, the team finished second in the 2010 championship while Conor Daly won the driver championship. Juncos Racing continued their run in the Pro Mazda Championship (the former Star Mazda) taking second in the 2012 and 2013 championships. Most recently 2014 proved to be one of the most successful years for Juncos Racing, winning the driver championship with Spencer Pigot and team championship in both the Cooper Tires Winterfest and Pro Mazda Championship. Juncos Racing expanded operations in 2015 to include two Indy Lights entries along with four Pro Mazda cars.
